zimbabweZimbabwe, Africa's Paradise is located in central Southern Africa, Zimbabwe is the ideal introduction to Africa. This small, landlocked country offers a wide variety of wildlife and cultural sites, in addition to one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the awe-inspiring Victoria Falls – the biggest flow of falling water in the world. Zimbabwe is located to the North of the Tropic of Capricorn between the mighty Zambezi and Limpopo rivers. Zimbabwe boasts one of the world’s most splendid climates - warm summers (October - February) and sunny winters (May - August).

Zimbabwe has an excellent infrastructure and road network and is a perfect traveling destination. One can enjoy fishing, water-skiing and boating on the man-made Lake Kariba, or hiking in the Eastern Highlands, walking through the balancing pebble of the Matobos and exploring the breathtaking ancient ruins of Great Zimbabwe, so called the "house of stone" and actually the country gets its name from it.

The main safari attractions in Zimbabwe are awesome Victoria Falls, which is a world heritage site; exciting game parks; fascinating ruins of Great Zimbabwe; spectacular Lake Kariba; game-rich Hwange National Park; and mighty Zambezi River, another wildlife viewing location.

Here are some main safari spots in Zimbabwe.

Matusadona National Park located on the shores of Lake Kariba, is one of the last wild havens of the endangered Black Rhino and is now regarded as a site with the highest natural population density of lions in Africa. Matusadona is perfect for walking safari and offers some of the regions finest safari lodges and bush camps. The area is worth visiting all year round.

Mana pools are Zimbabwe's second world heritage site and located on the southern bank of the Zambezi River. Mana's floodplain is a haven to an abundance of game during the dry season from June to October. The area is impressive with the Zambian scarp acting as a decoration.

Besides the excellent walking safaris in Mana, the Zambezi River offers another scope and here you may experience ideal canoe safaris.

Zimbabwe safari seasons
Zimbabwe has three basic seasons:
A period from late April to August is cool, even cold dry season and the temperatures can reduce to freezing on the heights at night. The weather at Hwange can get particularly cold.

Another season is hot dry period from the end of August through to mid November. During this time water becomes very scanty and the game gathers in big numbers at these sources. In October and November temperatures in the Zambezi Valley are utterly uncomfortable before the rain season starts.

The rains usually start in mid November and last through the summer to early April. Games viewing generally worsen at this time of year. An exception is Matusadona. Here excellent game sightings can still be made on the Kariba shoreline.

The best game-viewing season is generally from late May until November. In September the start of the returning bird migrations starts although bird viewing remains excellent throughout the wet season.
