Zanzibar is part of the United Republic of Tanzania and you will have to contact the Tanzania Diplomatic Mission in your respective country for any Visa information or applications.All the Nationals visiting the islands need a Passport valid for at least six months from the date of travel. Visas are also required from the American, Australian, British and most remaining EU Nationals. It should cost you about $50 or less. If you have visited an area infected with Yellow fever, then a vaccination against yellow fever is also needed. Contact the nearest Tanzania Diplomatic Mission for more information. It is recommended to take a malaria preventative course prior to leaving your home country and make sure to carry some medicines recommended by you doctor with you. Remember to boil all tap water before drinking. If you use still mineral water, you can without problems buy it locally. Climate and Seasons Zanzibar has a tropical climate with an average temperature of about 32C and an annual rainfall of about 60 inches. Annual temperature reaches the high thirties during the summer season (December-March) when the northern monsoons, Kaskazi blow over the island, and high twenties in the winter (if you dare to call it so) season (June-August) while the south west monsoons, Kusi, is blowing till November. The wettest weather lasts from April and May, when heavy rains fall and is the worst for tourists, so if you plan to visit Zanzibar, it is better to avoid this period. And now about the attractions of Zanzibar. Chumbe Island Coral Park This island for almost half a century was a kind of beacon to sailors, who navigated away through the Zanzibar Channel. The island housed the only lighthouse between the mainland and the west coast of Zanzibar and in its days, it must have saved many a ships from going aground. And now it is one of the most famous Nature Reserves in East Africa.
