Safari Costs

Consider the information on touring to the gorillas’ habitat in Uganda, Rwanda, Democratic Republic of Congo; check out the sample tours and their costs.
Safari Costs

The majority of mountain gorilla safaris will be scheduled well in advance because permits to see the gorillas are very restricted. And there are plenty of tour operators in Kampala and Kigali who offer private gorilla safaris and will have pre-booked permits available. Nearly all hotels and even some of the backpacker accommodations in the two cities will offer gorilla tours. Such safaris are often combined with chimpanzee safaris in Uganda or as add-ons to the "regular' safari out on the open plains.

Possible Tours and Costs
- Gorillas in Virunga and Bwindi: an 8 Day scheduled safari to three gorilla parks which includes 4 opportunities to track gorillas starting at USD 2646 per person.

- Another offer: several gorilla safaris in Uganda and Rwanda, a 6 day Gorilla Safari starting at USD 2000 per person.

- A 3 day (2 night) Gorilla tracking safari at Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. Not too expensive.
Lowland Gorilla Safari Tours

Tours to see the lowland gorillas can be quite rough and strenuous, especially those that venture in to the Republic of Congo.

- Safaris to Ivindo and Loango National Parks in Gabon to see western lowland gorillas. Operator prices start at around USD 3000 per person.

- A two week lowland gorillas safari in Gabon and the Congo; the costs are over USD 8000 per person but it includes flights.

- A 12 day tour in Gabon offering the chance to see the lowland gorillas, mandrills and chimpanzees.
