Bordering on the Gulf of Guinea, Ghana is bounded by Côte d'Ivoire to the west, Burkina Faso to the north, Togo to the east, and the Atlantic Ocean to the south.
The country has mild tropical climate. The rains in the North are in March-April, with intermittent rain until August-September when the rains are at their best. In the rest areas rains occur from April to June and from September to November.
Average temperatures are about 26°C (85°F); humidity is 50 to 80%. Generally temperatures are highest in March and lowest in August after the rains. Difference between day and night temperatures is barely noticeable, but greater in the north, especially in January, as a result of the harmattan.
