Equipment

Find out what equipment you may need while camping in Africa or heading for a walking safari. Check out a list of the most needed things on safari.
equipmentWith wrong or missing equipment a safari turns into a chase for the essentials with no time to watch or photograph the game. The main rule, which you should not forget, is buy all the necessary stuff at the first chance, as  it may happen that you won’t have the second one.

If you finally decided that this time you will do the safari by yourself and in the car, you should know some essentials. First of all, the key to a successful selfdriving safari is a reliable vehicle. The roads are rough and sometimes may turn into slippery during or after the rain.

As for the price it may cost you 65 Dollars with 200 free kilometers per day for a Suzuki, insurance and VAT included, and you even can bargain for a few extra free kilometers. If you want to rent a car at a small company, make sure to inspect the car you want to hire before paying anything as such companies don't possess any own cars and they just hire the cheapest available from other companies. (The car should not be too old; check whether the tires are in a good condition and whether everything is working. Also check the engine as the battery might be loose and make sure all the door locks are in order. Windows may open and close properly, so check these as well. And check if the spare tire is all right.

It is advisable to take such equipment for the car:  spare tire, jack, spanner, 20-l can for fuel, 10-l can for water. Also do not forget to bring screwdriver, pliers, wire, one spade, towrope, second, spare tire, extra oil, and ropes.
