Passports Passport valid - six months required by all.
Visas They are required by all except those keep on traveling within 48 hours by the same or first connecting aircraft if producing tickets with reserved seats and valid travel documents. All travelers should register at the immigration department within 72 hours of arrival; they also require two passport photographs.
Types of visa and cost Ordinary visa (includes visas issued for business or tourist purposes): US$20 (single-entry); US$118 (multiple-entry).
Validity One month. Note Single parents or adults traveling alone with children should be aware that documentary evidence of parental responsibility may be requested.
Send your application to Consulate (or Consular section at Embassy). French consulates may deal with applications in countries with no Chadian representation.
Application requirements are as following: 1) Valid passport. 2) Two passport-size photos. 3) Two application forms. 4) Letters of recommendation from employer (for business visits). 5) Valid return ticket. 6) Fee. 7) Yellow fever vaccination certificate, provided upon arrival. Failure to do so may result in a further vaccination being realized, for which the visitor will have to pay.
A yellow fever certificate is required from travelers over one year of age. Immunizations or boosters for typhoid and polio are recommended. Risk of malaria (and of other insect-borne diseases) exists all year throughout the country. The recommended prophylaxis is mefloquine.
Weather Conditions The weather is hot, due to tropical climate, though temperatures vary in different areas. The southern rainy season lasts from May to October and the central rains from June to September. The north has little rain all year. The dry season is usually windy and cooler during the evenings.
